COLUMBUS LIONS EDGE WHEELING MINERS IN THRILLER, 46–44

The Columbus Lions delivered another electrifying night of arena football, holding off the Wheeling Miners in a dramatic 46–44 victory on First Responders Night at the Columbus Civic Center.


Game Summary


In a game that came down to the final moments, the Lions showcased resilience and execution to secure the win. Quarterback Blaine Espinosa led the charge with a standout performance, accounting for six total touchdowns—two through the air and four on the ground.  


Despite being outgained in total yards (121–160), Columbus dominated where it mattered most—inside the red zone. The Lions converted 5 of 6 red zone trips into touchdowns (83%), proving to be the difference in a tightly contested battle.

Blaine Espinosa (QB)

  • 101 passing yards, 2 TDs

  • 4 rushing TDs

    Espinosa’s leadership and playmaking ability powered the Lions offense all night.  


Jacyais Credle (WR/ATH)

  • 4 receptions, 37 yards, 2 TDs

    Credle stepped up in big moments, finding the end zone twice.  


Mekall Yancie (DEF)

  • 4.5 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks

    Yancie anchored a disruptive defensive effort in the trenches.  


Jakhari Thomas (DB/ATH)

  • Interception + receiving TD

    Thomas made his presence felt on both sides of the ball.  



Halftime Show – Electric Energy


The night reached another level at halftime as national recording artist Cupid took the stage and delivered a high-energy performance that had the entire arena on its feet.


From “Cupid Shuffle” to “Flex” and “Love Slide,” fans filled the aisles, dancing and creating an unforgettable moment inside the Civic Center. The performance brought a true party atmosphere and added to an already electric night in Columbus.
