Columbus Lions and Georgia Alabama Sports Live Announce New High School Football Show, “Saturday Morning ROAR”

Thrift Barringer and his crew will host the new live weekly program recapping Friday night football across the region

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Georgia Alabama Sports Live is proud to enhance its partnership with the Columbus Lions through expanded football coverage, live score updates and the launch of a new weekly high school football show, Saturday Morning ROAR.

Hosted by Thrift Barringer and his crew, Saturday Morning ROAR will air live every Saturday at 9:00 a.m. ET on the Georgia Alabama Sports Live YouTube and Facebook channels throughout football season.

The show will recap Friday night football across Columbus, Phenix City and the surrounding area. Viewers can expect game recaps, scores, highlights, interviews, top plays and previews of upcoming matchups from across the region.

Coverage will extend beyond the field. Saturday Morning ROAR will also recognize the coaches, band members, cheerleaders, dance teams, managers, statisticians, gatekeepers, volunteers and loyal supporters who help create the Friday night experience.

“High school football is about more than the final score,” said Columbus Lions General Manager Corry Black. “It brings schools, families and entire communities together. Saturday Morning ROAR will allow us to celebrate everyone who contributes to Friday nights while creating more exposure for our local student-athletes and programs.”

Heart of a Lion Award

A signature weekly segment will be the Heart of a Lion Award, recognizing the players, coaches and community members who represent what the Columbus Lions stand for through leadership, character, commitment and service.

The honor may be presented to a player, coach, band member, cheerleader, dance team member, manager, statistician, volunteer, gatekeeper or another deserving contributor.

A Saturday Morning ROAR crew will visit selected games on Friday nights to capture interviews, highlights, school spirit and memorable moments for the following morning’s show.

Expanded Partnership and Live Score Coverage

As part of the enhanced partnership, the Columbus Lions will sponsor the Georgia Alabama Sports Live live ticker, providing live score updates throughout football season and additional coverage during the winter and spring sports seasons.

This partnership brings together two organizations committed to supporting local athletics, promoting student-athletes and celebrating the communities surrounding sports throughout the region.
